Back to the Fifties for Silver Bells
On November 25th at the Sun City Ballroom, there will be a "Back to the Fifties for Silver Bells Fundraiser" sponsored by the Georgetown Police Department and the Georgetown CPAAA. Your contribution of 10 dollars (via purchase of a ticket available at Sun City) will allow you to dance and party from 6 to 9 PM to the music of the Fifties and an Elvis impersonator who will wow you with his realistic Elvis impersonations. Our Asst. Police Chief Roland Waits will MC this event and all proceeds are to Support Silver Bells, a Georgetown Police Department "Caring for our Community" program.
The Silver Bells program deals with the loneliness of our elderly in our Nursing Homes and will make sure they are able to enjoy their holiday with a present despite the fact that they may have outlived their friends and relatives.
Please support Silver Bells by purchasing a ticket to this event. We must remember "There but for the grace of God go we".

The Blood Center of Central Texas
Saving lives just got closer for residents of Georgetown with the opening of Georgetown Community Blood Center. The Blood Center of Central Texas will now have four locations – Austin, Cedar Park, Georgetown and Round Rock with plans to open two additional centers in 2009.
“We realize that getting to the Center’s main facility on Lamar can be a daunting prospect in the heavy traffic conditions we all face,” says Marshall Cothran, CEO of The Blood Center of Central Texas. “With the addition of these community blood centers, as with our mobile blood drive program, we are making blood donation easier and more convenient for more people. As patient demand for blood products continues to rise in Central Texas, community blood centers will be a critical component in the Center’s efforts to permanently increase the blood supply in Central Texas and maintain an adequate blood supply.
The Georgetown Community Blood Center is located in Wolf Ranch Town Center, 1015 W University Avenue, Ste 340. Hours: Sunday & Monday, Closed; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, 8 am to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 8 am to 3 p.m. For more information or to make an appointment, please call (512) 206-1266 or visit The Center’s Web site at www.inyourhands.org . Walk-ins are always welcome.
Basic Requirements for donating blood include being at least 17 years of age, weighing at least 110 lbs., and being in generally good health. Donors should know their social security number and bring a photo ID. The process takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Join Joe's Team
The Friends of the Georgetown Public Library have a drop-off bin at the City Market, where Sun City residents can place books that they want to donate to the library and Second-Hand Prose, the used bookstore in the library. Currently Joe and Cele Pessarra check the bin nearly every day, and when they find books, they take them down to the Georgetown library, at least five times a week. They would really appreciate some help. Are you willing to join Joe's team, and divvy up the trips among several people? If so give Joe a call at 863-9870 or email him at joepessarra@suddenlink.net .
