Stained Glass

The Stained Glass Club of Sun City was founded as a charter club in September 1999 with a mission to provide stained glass enthusiasts and beginners a place to gather, work, and learn from each other. Since that time, the Club has grown with a full studio that is has three types of grinders, several glass saws and 3 kilns.   Members work in both cold and warm glass techniques.

Club meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:00 pm (see Calendar for more information) and all residents are encouraged to attend.  We also welcome residents to drop by the studio to see the work that is being done by both advanced and beginning artisans.   The studio at 2 Texas Drive, is open to the public five days week, Monday through Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm and also to members in the evenings and on weekends.

Most people who wish to join the Club have not previously worked with stained glass. Therefore, participation in the orientation class that provides basic stained glass skills is required before joining the club. This class meets for six sessions over a three week period and is offered once a quarter. The Club provides all of the necessary tools to make that first project and provides lots of support from the Club members. We do not have a waiting list for the orientation class; watch for the announcement of the class in the Sun Rays and then come to the studio during public hours to sign up.  Registration is on a First come, First Served basis and it fills fast.

Members wishing to increase their stained glass skills have a variety of classes available for them. These classes including training in different stained glass processes, including fusing and slumping.
