Description: Open Office is a free, full-featured set of office applications
which offers more features than Microsoft Office, and it is 100% compatible with Microsoft
Office. It runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Macintosh Operating Systems.
This class introduces the student to Writer, the Open Office word processing
program. Students will be introduced to the document preparation screen and will practice
skills necessary to create, edit, format, save, and print a typical single-page
document.
Classroom instruction includes lecture and discussion of basic Open Office word
processing concepts and hands-on exercises to develop skills in using Open Office Writer.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

Identify the features of the Writer screen including menus, toolbars, status bar,
and document preparation area.

Enter text using the keyboard.
·
Select text using the mouse or keyboard.
·
Add, delete, copy, and move text.
·
Change margins, fonts, paragraph spacing and indentation, and pagination to improve
the appearance of a document.
·
Print and save a document for future use.
·
Use Help, Tutorials, Guides, and "How To's" to learn additional features of Open
Office Writer.
