Basic Editing with Photoshop Elements 8 for the PC and Mac
Three, two-hour classes
Fee
: $15.00
Prerequisites
:
Photoshop Elements has an Organizer that allows for moving photographic files from
the camera to the computer. The Organizer also provides for very effective keyword tagging and
cataloging of photos.
The Organizer is NOT covered in this class and if the student is interested in using
the Organizer, it is recommended that the Photoshop Organizer class be taken before taking the
Photoshop 1 class.
Enrolling students must have Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, 7, 8 or 9 installed on
their home computer.
Version 9 was introduced August 2010; however, the Computer Club will continue to
use Version 8 for instruction through 2011.
Students must know how to move photographic images into a computer.
Windows Based:
Computer Intro to XP or Vista or Windows 7
Knowledge and skill in using Windows Explorer
Knowlege and skill in using Files and Folders
Mac Based:
Mac-Files and Folders
Knowledge and skill in using Mac Safari
Note:
The course will use the Classroom computers equipped with Adobe
Photoshop Elements 8, in either Vista or Windows 7
, which is identical to the Mac version in editing capability and
function.
If you have any questions about the above prerequisites, please contact the
instructor.
Intended Audience:
Computer Club members who already have the ability to input photographic images into
a computer, whether from a digital camera or from scanning a film or slide, and who intend to be
actively involved in the editing of these images. (Refer to Computer Club Classes on “Scanning” and
“Digital Cameras,” and the “Media Conversion SIG’s” activities.)
Note:
This is not a “survey class” for those with a cursory or exploratory
interest in photographic editing. Those interested in a survey class are referred to
Photoshop Overview, which is offered occasionally as a meeting, not in the classroom. Watch
for announcements in the Newsletter.
Performance Objectives:
After completing this course the student should be able to:
Perform basic edits to the images using the program’s Guided Edit (i.e. Crop,
Straighten, Lighten, Remove Color Cast)
Perform basic edits to all or a
selected part of an image using the Quick Edit. (i.e. Red eye fix, Quick
Selection Tool, Color Saturation and Sharpening of an image)
Perform basic restoration edits to a selected part of the image with the Healing
