Using Flash Drives and CDs

Description: A flash drive and a CD or DVD are storage devices which allow
portable transfer of documents, email messages, address books, and pictures. They can be used
to back up documents or as a simple, easy way to save data. You will learn what you can do
with these devices, how to use them safely and securely, and when to use them as a convenience or
necessity.
Objectives & Course Summary:
Students will learn how to move data back and forth between devices and
the computer, how to safely install and remove the devices, and how to use these devices as a data
bank of information. Students will also learn how CDs are used as installation discs and how to use
installation wizards provided on their computers
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

Understand the purpose of each of the devices

Safely insert and remove the devices from the computer

Locate the devices on the computer hard drive

Move or copy data from the computer to each of the devices

Use the devices to transfer data in a portable manner

Understand how to safely store each of the devices for future use.
