Prerequisites: None.  This class does not require membership in the Computer Club.

Description.  This class is designed for beginning users or new owners of a personal computer using Windows XP operating system (any version).  It defines basic computer terminology, names and describes the essential components of a computer system, and offers instruction and practice in using the keyboard and mouse.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

·          Start and shut down a personal computer

·          Recognize and understand basic computer terminology relating to a typical personal computer system

·          Know the function of personal computer hardware components

·          Use the mouse to select items, open and close windows, and modify windows

·          Use a keyboard to enter and manipulate text in a document

·          Name and describe the principal types of software used in a home or small office computer

·          Access and examine a web page
