Machine Embroidery Files and Folders

Audience: This course is designed exclusively for the members of the Fabric
& Fiber Club, Machine Embroidery SIG and does not allow enrollment of any student who does not
also belong to the Computer Club as well as the Machine Embroidery SIG.
Prerequisites:

Students must be a member of the Machine Embroidery SIG. There can be no
exceptions to this requirement.

Students must have their own machine embroidery membership to a machine embroidery
vendor and

Students should be able to bring their own laptop computer into the
classroom.
Course Description: Using a machine embroidery template or
pattern requires the student to download patterns from the internet, name and organize the
patterns in some kind of folder and file structure, and be able to rename, delete, move, copy,
paste, search, locate, and backup their embroidery files for easy access and retrieval. This
course will teach each of those functions in the Windows XP environment in the first session of the
class. In the second session, students are expected to bring in their own laptop pre-loaded
with machine-specific software. The instructors and assistants will work with each student to
download, locate, save, retrieve, rename, delete, move, copy, paste and search the software for
patterns, downloads, and files related to the machine embroidery function.
Course Objectives: At the end of this course, the students will understand
the process of downloads, files, folders, and software/file management and organization specific to
machine embroidery software and computer equipment.
