Prerequisites: Some mechanical ability, Web-browsing skills, and a small
Phillips screwdriver
Description: This class will introduce the student to the innards of a typical
desktop PC. It will emphasize obtaining information from manufacturers on accessing, adding,
or changing Field Replaceable Parts (FRP). The course will cover practical applications, with
little or no "theoretical" stuff.
Objectives & Course Summary: Upon completion of this course, you will be
able to:

Determine the make, model and other necessary information to access
manufacturer manuals,

Browse the internet to find and get information on a specific PC,

Prepare the work area, PC, and yourself before opening the case,

Open, inspect, and clean a PC,

Identify internal components: memory, drives, cards, power supply,
motherboard,

Recognize vital characteristics of parts: watts, slots, size, connections, and
jumpers,

Add or change memory, expansion cards, and hard drives/CDs/DVDs
