Don't Lose Those Albums. Use Tags!!!

ALBUMS - A Virtual Collection of Photos to Share using Picasa by any of the following methods.

1.   Create an Album Virtual folder listed under Albums in flat file or tree view - (Notes October, 2011)

2.  Email your Album Recipient sees separate Photos viewed one by one

3.  Make a movie of your album single automatic slide show large file to email (Notes October, 2010)

4.  Make a gift CD with one or several albums Have to give or mail CD (Notes January and February, 2009)

5.   Send Album to Web Share by sending URL or link by email (Notes May,2008)

Note: All of these projects begin by making an ALBUM.

 

 

The TAG Connection
  1. Albums are only seen when in Picasa. Not a windows file
  2. A tag is a label on a photo which sticks with the photo forever (EXIF), even when transferred to another computer. But an album will be lost.
  3. Add a tag (Tag permanently saved with photo)
    1. First named tag - Select photo, photos, or an album
    2. Open tag panel (bottom right - tab with tag icon)
    3. Type new Tag in window and click green plus sign.
    4. Existing tags may be chosen from list before clicking green +
  4. Check tag attached to photo
    1. In Picasa. Open Info (last tab bottom right) panel and scroll down to see tag
    2. In Windows. Right click photo, click Properties, Click Details tab. Tags will be under Description
  5. Tag all photos in an album with a distinct tag for each album to be saved
  6. Tags are searchable Creating an album from tagged photos
    1. Use Picasa search bar to isolate tagged photos in desired album

                                                         I.      Creates a temporary album

                                                       II.      Make New Album and rename to make permanent album

    1. Tools>Experimental>Show Tag as album.

                                                         I.      Creates a permanent album whose name is the tag

                                                       II.      Make New album to rename

 

Albums

1.      In Picasa, photos may be dragged and dropped to any position to reorder

2.      Photos may be removed from the album but still remain in original folder

3.      Album may be deleted but photos still remain in the original folder

4.      BUT Photos deleted from a folder are also deleted from any albums
