Camera to Computer to Web
Goal: to share photos with family and friends far away How: Store a slide show on web Send your family the web address (URL)
Preparation: 1. Take lots of pictures 2. Transfer from camera to computer 3. Organize and Edit with Picasa	4. Make Collages and add text for title pages 5. Create Albums 6. Upload to web 7. Email the URL to all recipients
Creating the Web Album: From Picasa, Select photos from one folder or from an album Click the Web Album Button to the right of the photo tray. First time only, create an account or just sign in with established account On the next screen, fill in the following: a. Check Create new or Add to existing Album (radio button) b. Fill in album title for a new album or use drop down button to add to an existing album c. Filling in Description and Place taken is optional d. Use drop down button to Select Upload Setting (small, medium or large). This determines upload speed. e. Select Public or Unlisted album or Sign in Required to view (drop down box) i. Public albums are visible to anyone who visits your album site ii. Unlisted albums are visible only to those who have album URL iii. To view an album marked sign in required, viewer must verify their identity with a Google account and be on your Shared List. f. Check all entries a - e and Click OK 5. Picasa does the rest by uploading the photos in the Photo Tray. 6. Click View Online to see your new album. 7. Send the album URL by e-mail to the ones you want to share these photos with. The URL for the web site for all your albums will be http://picasaweb.google.com/your email address (account name here)/ To send the URL for a specific album only include the album name after the last / as in http://picasaweb.google.com/gsr1935/CaptionsInPicasa/ where gsr1935 is the account name and CaptionsInPicasa is the specific album. An unlisted album will also have an authorization key following the album name. 8. The URL will appear on the web album page when the album is selected in the URL address box and may be copied and pasted into an e-mail.
Managing/ Changing the Web Album. From Picasa 1. Click Web Albums in the upper right (right in between your account name and Sign Out) Opening Page is the Photo Gallery with some Account management and information available with links at the top right. Visit these areas to see what your options are. Use the BACK button at the upper left if there is no other way to cancel or return to the Photo Gallery From the web. 1. All album covers will be shown. Click the album cover to view all photos in the album. 2. New choices appear with album features SlideShow begin a slide show in order shown Share triggers an email with the album URL to addresses you supply Add Photos provides for adding more photos to the albums from other sources needs special download Download to download, print, or make into a collage or movie Print ordering prints online Edit - When the album needs to be changed Change album properties - title, place, descriptions, sharing Change album cover select a different cover Add map show map with location of photos Change or add captions captions show on photo in slideshow Delete the album Organize and reorder rearrange sequence of photos
Managing/ Changing your Photos in a Web Album From Picasa Click Sync to Web Icon Any edits made in Picasa will simultaneously be made in the album. From the Web View Full Screen Share brings up an email to send photo Download Order Prints order prints online Edit change photo as featured Set as Album cover Delete photo from Album Edit photo in PIcasa Move to another Album Copy to another Album
