Hidden Features of Picasa

 

Hidden Folders - using Folder Manager

1.      Check Folder Manager to eliminate Picasa's scanning of a selected folder. Mark folder with a red x - folder will not be scanned

2.      Check Folder Manager to enable Picasa's scanning of a selected folder. Mark folder with an eyeball to scan continuously.

 

Hidden Folders Folders scanned but hidden

1.      Select folder in the Folder List

2.      Click Folder on the menu

3.      Select Hide (Creates a Hidden Folder Collection which can be password protected)

4.      To reveal folders in the Hidden Folder Collection, open the collection. Enter password(if you have not forgotten it) and click OK

5.      Select folder

6.      Click on Folder on the menu

7.      Click Unhide

 

Hidden Pictures - Pictures you Hide

a.      Select the photos that you'd like to hide.

b.      Click the Pictures menu.

c.       Select Hide

d.      OR right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) any of the selected photos in the Library and select Hide

 

 

Unhide Pictures Pictures you Hide

a.      Click the View menu.

b.      Select Hidden Pictures. Any hidden pictures will now appear, but they will be translucent.

c.      Select the photos that you'd like to unhide.

d.      Click the View menu.

e.      Select Unhide.

 

 

Pictures Picasa Hides your originals

 

When you use the Save to Disk and File > Save functions, Picasa creates a new copy of your photo with all edits applied and moves the original unedited file to a nested subfolder called '.picasaoriginals' (Windows and Mac). This subfolder is hidden on your computer's hard drive and isn't visible in Picasa. The original photo is accessible through Picasa at any time.

Windows

  1. In Picasa, right-click the photo in question.
  2. Click Locate. If you've yet to save an edited copy of the photo, you'll instead see the option Locate on Disk or Locate
  3. Select Original on Disk
  4. Note: The picasaoriginals folder is hidden in the normal Explorer View but can be located by viewing hidden files (not recommended)

 

Pictures Picasa Hides small pictures

a.      Click View

b.      Click Small Pictures (now checked)
