Sharing your Photos Part 2

Making a Gift CD Creating an Album

What is an Album?

  • An Album provides for you to gather together photos from several folders into one collection for a presentation slide show on a CD or on the web.
  • The Album functions like one folder but does not hold actual photos.
  • The order of photos in the album may be changed by dragging and dropping a photo or group of photos into new positions.
  • Collages made with Picasa 3 may be added to the Album.
  • Title slides may be added to the Album to identify groups of photos using Picasa 3 (Collage with text)
  • Text may be added to photos using Picasa 3
  • A gift CD created using an Album produces a continuous slide show.

When to use:

Use the Album to collect photos from more than one folder for one continuous slide show on your gift CD or for creating a web album.

Preparations for a Gift CD.

  1. Prepare your photos. Edit them. Add captions. Rename them.
  2. Select all desired photos from one folder in the photo tray. Click the Hold button. (Green)
  3. Proceed to another folder and repeat step 2.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all photos to be included on the CD are selected and in the Photo Tray.

  5. Click New Album Button (Blue). Type in a name for your Album for example - Travels 2008. Click OK
  6. Clear Photo Tray. To add more photos to this album, collect them in the Photo Tray, click the New Album button. This time click the name of the album Travels 2008 in the drop down list.
  7. At the top of the Folder List is an Album collection. Find Travels 2008 in the Album collection and open it. Play a slideshow to preview your CD. Reorder if necessary. Edit if needed
  8. Create transition slides or a lead-in title slide for similar groups of photos.

Select one photo which introduces the section by a natural sign as in a park entrance sign or city road sign.

Or select one or two photos to make a collage which will be the first photo in the section identifying the section. I.E. Garden of the Gods or Air Force Academy or Pikes Peak.

Or use a collage to just group together and display related photos on one slide in the slide show. (Especially if the slide show is long.)

  1. Use Picasa3's text on photo options. Drag the eye dropper or colorpicker to match the color of the text to a prominent item in the photo. Add text to the individual photos or add the text to the collage to identify the upcoming related section of slides.
