Creating Your Picasa Web Album

From Picasa, with photos in the Photo Tray  or an album selected

1. Click the Web Album Button to the right of the photo tray.

2. If you have not already set up an account for your albums, enter an account name (an e-mail address) and a password and a secret question (in case you forget your password). This will only happen the first time you create an album.

3. On the next screen, fill in the following:

a. Check Create new or Add to existing Album (radio button)

b. Fill in album title if this is  a new album or use drop down button to find existing album

c. Filling in Description and Place taken is optional

d. Use drop down button to Select Upload Setting (small, medium or large). This determines upload speed.

e. Check Visibility options Public or Unlisted album (radio button)

i. Public albums are visible to anyone who visits your album site

ii. Unlisted albums are visible only to those who have album URL

f. Check all entries a - e and Click OK

4. Picasa does the rest by uploading the photos in the Photo Tray.

5. Click View Online to see your new album.
Photos may subsequently be added to albums on line.
Photos on line may have captions added and viewed in several ways.

6. Send the album URL by e-mail to anyone you want to share these photos with. The URL for the web site for all your albums will be http://picasaweb.google.com/your email address (account name here)/
To send the URL for a specific album only include the album name after the last / as in http://picasaweb.google.com/gsr1935/CaptionsInPicasa/
where gsr1935 is the account name and CaptionsInPicasa is the specific album.
An unlisted album will also have an authorization key following the album name.

7. The URL will appear on the web album page in the URL address box and may be copied and pasted into an e-mail.
