DISCUSSION OF DIRECTORS’ REPORTS RECEIVED BY E-MAIL

Communications, Dick Smith

Monthly CC Article for the Sun Rays - The CC Article for the August Sun Rays was submitted during the last week of June. The CC Article for the September Sun Rays was submitted during the last week of July.

CC Website Performance - The changes made to the website by removing the dropdown menus appear to have solved the majority of the complaints about the performance concerns when accessing the CC Home webpage. Thanks to those individuals, particularly Meredith Mitchell, for their efforts in diagnosing the dropdown menu performance issues and finding resolutions to the problem.

CyberCenter, Don Snapp

With the assistance of Jan Franklin, I was able to package the software and cabling for the 7 iBooks that are now ready for disposal as authorized by the Board.

I now have on hand 2 new computers from Dell to replace L1 & L2.  These units will have XP Pro with Vista available for later installation if found warranted. The 2 new computers for L13 & L14 will have 2 drives as well as firewire.   XP Pro will also be loaded on these units to handle video software programs that are not compatible with Vista.

We expect to install a new and improved router on August 16th in order to begin the process of upgrading our CyberCenter connection with Suddenlink.

A New Member Receptions was held on July 29.   About 145 were invited and approximately 45 attended.   The program was well-received.   I wish to thank the Board members for giving their time and energy to make these receptions a success.

All good things must come to an end, so with much fondness I bid you adieu.

Janet Lull will be processing the membership monies, and Ruth Lawrence will send out invitations for the New Members Receptions.   Ruth does not speak Access, so someone will need to send her an Excel file containing the email address of those to be invited around Sept. 14.   Perhaps another someone can be found to send out the Welcome Letters.

It has been great fun.
