Approval of Minutes
A motion
was made by Linda Walke on November 21, 2007 to accept by e-vote and
publish on the Computer Club web site the revised minutes of the Nov 1st Board Meeting. The
motion was seconded and passed by e-vote.
Officers
Peter Roll
sent a report to the Executive Board on the status and costs of the
new equipment in the CyberCenter Classroom. The CA Finance Committee requests that the
Computer Club submit a form with the intended disposal of the unnecessary equipment. When
they have approved the Computer Club’s proposal, the CClub will be free to take the necessary
actions. Dick Doane appointed a committee made up of Peter Roll, Don Snapp, Dick Smith, Gael
Miller and himself to determine the exact disposal; fill out the forms and present them to the CA
Finance Committee.
Gael Miller –
Deferred to Standing Committee Reports
Financial Report
Linda Shanhouse presented the November 2007 Financial Report.
A motion was made by Gael Miller and seconded by Peggy Uselton to accept the
report. The motion passed. The Financial Report will be filed for audit.
Highlights of the Financial report – The required Reserve payment
has been made to the CA. The classroom computers and related new equipments totaled
$11,990.94. The expense relating to the Prepaid PayPal dues is listed under “Miscellaneous”
on the financial report.
A preliminary report of a study made of the Computer Club’s
Financial Records by Computer Club member Bill Leisey recommended a change to the bylaws to raise
the dollar amount requiring two signatures. A more extensive report will be made to the
Executive Board when the financial transactions for 2007 are complete.
DISCUSSION OF DIRECTORS’ REPORTS RECEIVED BY
E-MAIL
Communications, Dave Hanna
Pay Dues On-line Status
- The system is working well and has been used by many
Club members for renewals and also by new members. Barbara Resnick is almost finished with the
software coding that will be used to enter the on-line data into the membership database.
PayPal has agreed to remove the $500 per month maximum amount for transfers out of our PayPal
account into our special bank account. Linda Shanhouse was thanked for following through with this
detail.
After a discussion of the logistics of selling Tickets
for the January Annual Computer Club Luncheon on-line,
a motion was made by Peter Roll and seconded by Dave Hanna to take the necessary
action to sell the tickets online. The motion passed.
E-mail Newsletter Editor Needed - Linda Walke has asked to be replaced as
newsletter editor and Dave Hanna has temporarily taken over the task. A new editor is needed by
January 1 or as soon as possible. Three to four hours a week are required; perhaps more until the
editor becomes familiar with the portal’s newsletter editor.
Club Web site, Future Plans
– After a discussion of possible options for the
Computer Club website, Dick Doane appointed a Board Fact Finding Committee of Peter Roll, Dick
Smith, Gael Miller, Dave Hanna and himself. The committee is charged with meeting with the
task force headed by Pat Hillcoat, learning where they are in the development of the website and
what their recommendations are, then reporting these and the committee’s recommendations to the
Board for its review. The Board will make the decision about the direction of the website
development after evaluation of this information. The Committee is further instructed to
attempt to determine what the CA’s plans are for the future of the Portal system.
Sun Ray Editor
– Dave H. reported on the recent requests made by the
CA about the content and style of the Charter Club’s articles in the
Sun Ray. He feels the job could be handled by a Computer Club member reporting to
the Communications Director. Dave will continue to write and submit the articles through the
February 2008
Sun Ray issue.
Webmaster – Meredith Mitchell – no report due to absence
Newsletter – Report made earlier by Dave Hanna.
CyberCenter, Don Snapp
At this time there are about 125 luncheon tickets sold. We
hope to keep selling them until the 7th of January.
Sorting of Software in the Classroom has basically been
accomplished. There are more things to do before the change over begins on the 15th of
December.
I have been cleaning out the Software Cabinet for the Lab and
Admin Computers.

Special Interest Groups, Nelda McQuary
Web Site Design –
The attendance at the monthly meetings has dropped off considerably,
so Jerry Sivin has cancelled the SIG. He thinks the members that attended in the beginning
received the information they need and aren’t interested in learning newer techniques. I have
advised Meredith to permanently remove meetings from the calendar on 3rd Tuesday at 1:30 beginning
12/1/07. He has also removed the listing from the SIG list under Description and Web Pages on
the CC Home Page. Jerry has notified his Mail List that the SIG has been
canceled.
Digital Camera SIG
– In late summer the leaders, Marlene Sloan and Jim Bilbro,
announced that they would not lead this SIG during 2008. They sent messages to their members
asking for individuals to step forward to continue their work. Nelda and Marlene have
discussed several ways the group could be reorganized or even split into new SIGs. At this point,
no volunteers have come forward to help. Jim Bilbro will be back in a week or two to
discuss this further.
SIG Leader’s Meeting
is on the calendar for January 9, 2008, however d
ue to indecisions regarding the Web Portal/Computer
Club Website, the SIG Leader's Meeting will be postponed until a
later date
The Mail Lists seem to be operating smoothly now. How these
lists will be handled in the future will be discussed at a SIG Leader’s meeting.
Total attendance to all SIG’s in November was 181,
with three SIG’s having cancelled meetings because of the
holiday.

thanks for members of the task force who have worked diligently and effectively on this
project.
STANDING COMMITTEES
Social Committee –
The poor attendance at the 5
th Monday CyberSocials was discussed. The mutual decision was to continue them as
has been done in the past for the time being.
Annual Computer Club Meeting and Luncheon – The only issue relating to the
Luncheon was the ticket sales. It was decided to sell tickets in both the CyberCenter and
on-line. Announcement will be made in the weekly E-Newsletter.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES
Election Judges –
Dick Doane asked Peggy Uselton to serve with Dave Hanna and Meredith
Mitchell as Election Judges. After the votes have been certified as validated by the Election
Judges, a report will be made to the Board. After the Board is notified, the results will be
posted on the website when the list of officers is updated. New officers assume their
responsibilities on January 1, 2008.
NEW BUSINESS
Executive Board Planning Retreat
will be held the first Thursday of February. Board members and
others invited to attend will be notified of the location and time via email.
