January 12, 2012
Meeting called to order and greeted our members by our President, Nancy Dubbs at 1:30 PM in the clay studio. New officers for 2012 were introduced.
Previous minutes of the Sept. 2011 meeting was accepted unanimously as no minutes were taken at the Nov. and Dec. general meetings due to parties taking place.
Treasurer report attached, $21,482.60 net balance.
Nancy went over her ideas for the club this coming year. Respond was positive, no additional additions. Nancy also asked for volunteers to run the different events. Included in this was a proposal that we pay outside teachers to come in for seminars. Aggie Gladwin and Allee Blanter will give a demo Jan. 21, 9-12, how to make Taco fish. We will have a fish display in our studio windows in March. Georganne Leopard submitted the window change out schedule along with theme ideas for the year. This was approved by the board, is attached and will be posted in the studio.
Nancy arranged for us to exhibit our work at the Georgetown Library, August 1-31. We need 20-40 pieces. One item per member. Need volunteers to select and arrange selected work. Will form committee in July.
Flo suggested we join the Horticulture Club for the plant sale in March. We can make any clay objects and sell them at our table. All the money we make will from our sales comes back to the club and we can then donate the money to an approved charity. Flo will chair this event. Moved and seconded by Ann Boggess and Inez Hoos. Unanimous vote.
Kiln replacement was looked into by Jamie Haymes, who was able to negotiate with McCrea Kiln Repair Company for a complete replacement without charge to us because of faulty work by them.
New Home Owners Orientation needs volunteers to represent our club. Nan and Cindy Bausch volunteered. It was suggested that a slide show be made so it will be more interesting. Cindy Hernandez volunteered to make it.
Monitor training to be done Jan. 17 and 1/19 at 2 PM., monitors must attend one of these days.
Club window sales. Members voted to include a 10% cut on each piece sold, plus tax. Members should think about pricing their items so they get the money they want after the cut and taxes. First motion was made by Viva Jones and seconded by Lea Kraus. Unanimous vote.
New Club Members Orientation Pat Coatsworth asked for help. She does orientation after the club closes on Tuesday and Thursday one or two times a month depending on how many new members we have. Inez Hoos, Viva Jones, Linda Rainsdon, and Ginny Smith after she is well.
Printer Fee Anyone printing for personal reasons will pay .10 cents for B/W and .25 cents for color. Jars will be at each printer and will be on the honor system.
If you would like your work displayed on the web site, send it to Meredith Mitchell who is our web master.
Passed out hard copies of the completed Policy and Guidelines, this will be included in the new members’ packet also.
Spoke about old clay and unclaimed pieces around the studio. We need members to be responsible and pick up their things. Jane Baxa suggested that after 3 mos., things would be thrown out or recycled.
